MUTCD Arrow Board Requirements
The production of JACKWIN arrow boards is strictly in accordance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). According to MUTCD, arrow boards are mainly used for closing, merging, and U-turn instructions on highway lanes. At the same time, arrow lights ultra-brightness, board sizes, and visible distance are required. They must be placed at lane shoulder or away from the lane to prevent traffic accidents. The following are the specific requirements:
- Use and Purpose
The various arrows on the Arrow board have different functions. They are used to close the lane or merge adjacent lanes. They must be highly visible so that they can warn drivers in advance from a long distance.
- Placement
MUTCD requires that all arrow boards must be placed on the shoulder of the road or in a safe place away from the lane.
- Visibility
MUTCD requires that the LED brightness of all arrow boards meet different levels of requirements.
- Minimum Mounting Height
The minimum height of Arrow boards is 7 feet from the ground to the bottom of the panel, except on vehicle-mounted panels.
