What is a Demountable Flood Barrier?
JACKWIN demountable flood barriers are modular, reusable, and permanent flood protection systems composed of uprights, crossbeams, and sealing components. Typically installed in flood-prone areas, our barriers utilize stacked metal panels to increase the level of flood protection.
How do removable flood barriers work to protect homes?
- The core operating mechanism of our barriers is a physical seal, formed by high-strength materials that fit tightly against the floor and adjacent panels. When flooding occurs, downward and lateral pressure activate the locking mechanism, which compresses the sealing gasket to create a waterproof barrier capable of withstanding hydrostatic pressure.
- The greater the water pressure, the better the waterproof sealing performance, effectively preventing water from seeping into the interior.

Removable Flood Barrier for Door
JACKWIN removable flood barriers for doors are used at locations prone to floodwater backflow during the flood season, such as underground garage entrances and exits, street-level shops, subway entrances, and factory gates.
Pre-embedded mounting slots: During the non-flood season, we simply need to use expansion anchors to mount the slots parallel to the walls on both sides of the doorway, ensuring easy passage for pedestrians and vehicles.
Rapid installation and removal: Only one or two people are needed to slide the metal panels into place along the inner grooves and secure them by tightening the reinforcement screws.

How to Install Demountable Flood Barriers?
JACKWIN demountable flood barriers utilize lightweight aluminum alloy panels and components pre-installed on concrete surfaces or door jambs, significantly reducing installation difficulty and enhancing efficiency.
Installing permanent components: We need to clear the designated area and mark the installation locations. Next, embed the anchor plates into the concrete foundation. Once the concrete has fully cured, securely bolt the end posts and side posts to the anchor plates, using a level to ensure all components are properly aligned.
Deploying central posts and panels: Upon the arrival of the flood season and receipt of a flood warning, our central posts must be secured to the pre-installed anchor plates. Subsequently, the removable, stackable panels are slid into the posts’ grooves, with the number of panels adjusted to the required flood protection height.
Ensuring Watertightness and Testing: We use PU/PE or EPDM rubber seals to fill gaps against uneven ground surfaces and employ clamping mechanisms at the top of the barriers to enhance the seal. Following installation, we inspect for any gaps and verify the structural stability.

Demountable Flood Barrier vs L-shape Flood Barrier

JACKWIN demountable flood barriers rely on physical anchoring and typically feature a modular design; their waterproofing effectiveness depends on structural strength and self-sealing under water pressure.
JACKWIN L-shaped flood barriers rely on gravity and friction, requiring no drilling into the ground for installation. When floodwaters surge in, the water’s weight presses down on the horizontal panels of the barriers, converting that weight into pressure that holds the barriers firmly against the ground. The higher the water level, the more secure the flood protection becomes.
If you need to protect fixed entrances and exits—such as underground parking garages or subway stations—that are at risk of high floodwaters, our demountable flood barriers are a more flexible option.
If you need to respond to sudden flash flooding on city streets or in front of storefronts, require rapid deployment, and want to avoid damaging the pavement, our L-shaped flood barriers offer a lighter, more efficient solution.
Applications
JACKWIN removable flood barriers are used to preserve the aesthetics and existing structural integrity of buildings, and can be deployed before a flood occurs. If you have a need for our barriers in the scenarios listed below, please email us immediately.

Our barriers are designed to prevent water from entering elevator shafts, which can lead to expensive repairs and long-term downtime. They can be used in passenger, freight, residential, and low-base elevators.

This is our aluminum extrusion workshop. Our aluminum alloy sheets are formed through high-precision die extrusion. Each panel is typically designed with a hollow structure featuring reinforcing ribs, and the overall thickness can reach 40 mm. The posts are extruded, then anodized, and feature special grooves.
This is our powder coating workshop. We remove dust, rust, and oxidation from the treated aluminum sheets and form a conversion coating on their surfaces. We then use an electrostatic spray gun to apply powder coating, causing it to adhere to the sheets’ surfaces. Finally, the dry powder is cured at high temperature, forming a durable coating.
This is our CNC precision machining workshop. Our metal panels are cut to size and formed into a 45° tongue-and-groove structure, with the edges rounded to prevent sharp corners. Components such as posts that must withstand high water pressure are reinforced with welds to ensure the welds are free of cracks and porosity.
We assemble sealing systems, including the insertion and securing of rubber strips, joint sealing, mechanical locking, and the installation of hardware. Finally, we apply reflective warning strips or custom corporate logos to the surface of the panels to enhance safety during nighttime operations.

If installation requires mounting on either side of a door frame or wall, the strength of the wall substrate must be C20 or higher to ensure that the expansion bolts are securely anchored.
- In ISO 4892 aging tests, the aluminum alloy flood barriers showed no noticeable fading or chalking on their surfaces after 500 hours of accelerated aging.Â
- In neutral salt spray tests, our high-quality aluminum alloy flood barriers maintained a surface corrosion rating of at least Grade 9 after 1,000 hours.
- We also conducted compression, tensile, and full-load tests to ensure that the baffles would not fracture or deform excessively when subjected to hydrostatic flood pressure and lateral tensile forces.
Yes, the U-shaped channels or side posts in our barriers are permanently anchored to the wall using expansion bolts or chemical anchors, serving as guide rails. The main water-deflecting panels can be removed and stored at any time.
JACKWIN demountable flood barriers achieve a tight seal by leveling the ground, utilizing highly elastic sealing strips at the base, mechanical locking, physical compression, and the self-tightening effect of water pressure.
The EPDM rubber waterstops we use are highly elastic and resistant to aging. Upon physical contact with the ground, they are firmly compressed against the surface by applied mechanical pressure, filling even the smallest cracks. At the same time, the immense hydrostatic pressure causes them to adhere even more tightly to the ground.
