Specialized Customization
JACKWIN flood gates can be customized based on your CAD drawings, taking into account factors such as opening geometry, flood exposure, passageway requirements, wall and floor conditions, drainage conditions, and operational continuity.
- Opening Geometry: Our gates feature a modular design, consisting of multiple standardized gate units and non-standard modules that can be assembled in flexible configurations to match the actual dimensions of the opening.
- Flood Exposure: Depending on the maximum water level and the expected flood height, our flood gate system can be configured to the appropriate height, with a safety margin built in.
- Passageway Requirements: We use both surface-mounted and recessed installations, with ramp components or gates recessed into underground channels, to facilitate pedestrian and vehicle passage.
- Wall and Floor Conditions: Sidewall seals and floor gaskets can fill the gaps between the gate frame and the wall.
- Drainage Conditions: We have implemented a drainage control system in which flood barrier is raised only when water flow exceeds the drainage capacity, and the water level reaches a preset threshold.
- Operational Continuity: To prevent power grid failures and staff shortages, our floodgate system can be equipped with smart networking modules and provide audible and visual alerts.

Installation of Automatic Flood Gates
JACKWIN provides all the parts, drawings, and instructions needed for floodgate installation.
- Assessment: A comprehensive assessment of openings, overall structure, flood risk, and drainage systems is required before installation.
- Site Preparation: Before proceeding with the official installation, the most important step is to ensure that the floor is level and free of structural defects. You need to clear the area and level the floor with concrete.
- Frame Installation: Our underground fully automatic floodgate requires excavating the foundation pit in advance, fabricating and installing the embedded channels, and ensuring their levelness and precise alignment. To reinforce the gate’s structural integrity, you need to pour concrete after the anchor bolts have been secured, ensuring that the anchor bolts and foundation are firmly embedded in the structure.
- Gate Alignment: Using tools such as a spirit level and a plumb line, you need to repeatedly adjust the gate’s left-right, front-back, and vertical alignment. Our gate must be secured and leveled, and the anchor bolts and embedded rebar must be welded or fastened securely.
- Seal Installation: You need to install rubber gaskets on the bottom frame and the side frames of the gate, ensuring that the sealing surfaces are flat and properly aligned.
- Locking System Installation: Lateral mechanical limiters or hydraulic locking valves must be secured in their designated positions during installation to ensure that the gate is physically locked in place and cannot shift when raised to block water flow.
How Effective are Flood Gates?
JACKWIN flood gates are designed to withstand flash, urban, river, coastal, and heavy-rain flooding.
- When water levels rise rapidly, causing significant flooding in low-lying areas or backflow onto city streets, our flood gates can seal off building entrances.
- In the event of urban flooding, our gates prevent water from entering underground spaces when the drainage system is overwhelmed.
- For commercial buildings and industrial parks located along rivers and on levees, our flood gates can protect entrances and vehicle access points, preventing floodwater from entering.
- In the event of heavy rain and flooding, our gates are an effective measure to prevent rainwater and floodwater from accumulating and to protect people from injury.
Our flood gates are designed to withstand hydrostatic pressure, preventing deformation and direct collapse. In rivers with high sediment content and during floods, they withstand the impact of floating debris.

How do Flood Gates Prevent Floods?
JACKWIN flood gates consist primarily of gate panels, hinges, a frame, a sealing system, a locking mechanism, and a drive system.
- Swing-Hinge Flood Gates: Our swing-hinge floodgates primarily operate by rotating the gate via hinges; they can be opened and closed manually by swinging and locking the gate, or automatically using electric or hydraulic power. Compression-seal technology enables our gates to reduce leakage rates and provide high water resistance.
- Lift-Hinged Flood Gates: Our gates first lift up and then rotate, which helps reduce issues such as ground friction and seal wear. When not in use, they park to the side, allowing vehicles and pedestrians to pass unimpeded.
- Sliding Flood Gates: Our gates consist of door panels, slide tracks, rollers, a frame, a sealing and locking system, and a drive system. They are suitable for extra-wide openings and areas with limited space, and help reduce stress on the hinges.
- Rolling Flood Gates: Compared to sliding flood gates, our rolling flood gates utilize a roller system that significantly reduces the operational resistance of large gate structures. The gate rolls horizontally along side tracks or rolls up, distributing its weight.
- Pivot Flood Gates: In the event of sudden flooding, the gates can be manually operated or automatically activated to rotate around a pivot hinge to a preset position, creating a sealed space inside to withstand the floodwaters. With triple-sided sealing, our gates utilize EPDM rubber, neoprene seals, and compression gaskets to minimize flood damage as much as possible.

Flood Gates vs Demountable Flood Barrier

JACKWIN flood gates are a fixed, permanent flood control measure that is difficult to remove and requires groundwork during installation.
JACKWIN demountable flood barriers can be quickly deployed, temporarily, and reused thanks to their modular design. In the event of occasional or unusually high floodwaters, our barriers can be stacked to increase their height.
| Flood Gates | Demountable Flood Barrier | |
| Water Resistance | ≤250 kN | ≥ 15 kN |
| Material | Stainless Steel/Carbon Steel | Aluminum |
| Space Utilization | More | Little |
| Initial Cost | High | Lower |
| Labor Requirements | Fewer | More |
| Maintenance Requirements | Medium | Medium |
| Flexibility | Lower | High |
| Degree of Automation | High | Lower |
If you need a fast, reliable response in flood-prone areas, choosing flood gates can help you easily activate flood protection measures—either automatically or with just one person.
If you need to deploy flood barriers flexibly across different areas while improving space and manpower utilization, reducing the scope of construction work, and minimizing the need for infrastructure reconstruction, demountable flood barriers are an excellent choice.
