What is Inflatable Flood Barrier?
An inflatable flood barrier is a flexible flood protection system constructed from PVC or TPU. By first being inflated and then filled with water, it rapidly forms a temporary dam to block or divert the flow of floodwaters. It is commonly used to protect buildings, basements, homes, industrial sites, and facilities from flood damage. When not in use, the water inside the inflatable flood barrier can be drained, and the unit can be folded up for convenient storage.

Custom Inflatable Flood Barrier
JACKWIN supports OEM & ODM and can customize inflatable flood barriers according to your requirements. Our inflatable dams can be tailored across several key aspects, including material, tube structure, diameter, length, and connection systems.
Material: JACKWIN offers PVC/TPU materials ranging in thickness from 0.9mm to 2.0mm. PVC-coated fabric offers a lower cost point combined with excellent waterproofing capabilities. TPU material is wear-resistant and cold-resistant, ensuring a longer service life, fitting for various harsh outdoor environments.
Tube Structure: We offer water-filled flood barriers featuring single-tube, double-tube, and triple-tube configurations. Multi-tube structures provide enhanced stability and superior resistance to overturning, perfect for medium-to-large-scale flood control projects.
Length: Our flood barriers are available in standard lengths of 5m, 10m, 20m, and 30m. You can connect modular units of varying lengths end-to-end to create comprehensive flood defense systems for larger-scale projects.
Ground Conditions: If you intend to deploy JACKWIN flood barriers on rough or poor surfaces, such as gravel, riprap, or construction debris, it is necessary to increase the material thickness of the inflatable barrier and incorporate an additional abrasion-resistant layer on the base.

How Inflatable Flood Barrier Works?
JACKWIN offers reliable and practical water-filled flood barriers designed to block floodwaters. So, how exactly do they work?
1. Deployment: Before a flood strikes, our flood barriers are laid out across areas requiring protection, such as riverbanks, roadways, residential neighborhoods, construction sites, and subway entrances.
2. Inflation and Installation: Water pumps or fire hydrants are used to fill the barriers with water, causing them to inflate and take shape. Some barriers may require additional anchoring using ground stakes or steel anchors to ensure stability.
3. Pressure Provides Support: Rising floodwaters exert pressure against the barriers, pressing them firmly against the ground. Inflatable flood barriers equipped with a skirt offer enhanced leak-prevention capabilities.
4. Blocking and Diversion: Once installed, our water-filled inflatable flood barriers effectively block floodwaters from entering buildings, divert the flow of water, or serve as temporary coffer dams.
5. Deflation and Storage: After use, flood control tubes are deflated, drained, and cleaned, which are then folded and stored away, ready for future deployment.
Inflatable Water Barriers Modular Configuration
Based on tube systems tested in the IWA facility, JACKWIN recommends using the following inflatable flood barrier systems to protect against floods.
- Hinged Twin-Chamber Inflatable Flood Barrier: Our integrated double-chamber flood control tube adheres tightly to the riverbed under its own weight, requiring no tying straps. It offers good stability, effectively preventing tipping, and is suitable for small to medium-sized rivers or municipal ditches.
- Triple-Tube Stacked Flood Barrier: Three inflatable barriers bundled together, combined with PVC waterproof lining and sandbags, provide excellent water retention. Modular assembly allows for flexible length adjustment as needed. Triangular structure offers good stability and prevents collapse.
- Primary-secondary Twin Bladder Dam: It consists of two inflatable flood barriers, one large and one small. The main chamber is supported by the secondary chamber, making it less prone to shifting or tipping over and suitable for high-water-level flooding. Integrated structure is free from on-site binding and installation.
- Double-Capsule Protected Barrier: Two independent inflatable tubes, combined with a waterproof base fabric, ensure excellent waterproofing. Outer waterproof fabric effectively isolates floating debris, sand, or sharp objects, protecting the internal airbags.
- Single-tube Flood Barrier: Our integrated cylindrical airbag is suitable for temporary flood control projects with limited budgets. It is easy to install and can be connected to other sections to form a longer flood control dam.

Inflatable Flood Barrier v.s. Sandbags

Inflatable Flood Barrier: Compared with sandbags, an inflatable flood barrier can be quickly inflated and deployed within minutes, making it suitable for emergency flood response. Our water-filled flood barrier, which is reusable and easy to store, requires less labor and operation time than sandbags.
Sandbags: Compared with inflatable flood barriers, sandbags are readily available, have low initial purchase costs, and are suitable for various rugged terrains and harsh environments. As a sand-filled flood barrier, sandbags pose no risk of air leakage and offer greater operational stability. Compared to water-inflatable flood barriers, sandbags require more manpower and time, necessitate more storage spaces, and incur higher transportation costs.
Applications
JACKWIN inflatable flood barriers are widely used for various applications, including river diversion, residential areas, infrastructure protection, construction sites and cofferdam projects.

Multiple inflatable flood barriers of varying lengths can be interconnected to form extended diversion channels. Our flood tubes can be configured in either straight or curved formations, making them used for river diversion.

JACKWIN inflatable flood barriers are frequently utilized to protect critical infrastructure, such as subway systems, tunnels, power stations, energy storage facilities, water treatment plants, and hospitals from the damaging effects of floods.

Our portable flood tubes can be rapidly deployed in the event of heavy rainfall or impending floods.Flood barriers are commonly used at the entrances of low-lying residences, garages and basement stairwells.

Our water-filled flood barriers can prevent floodwaters from entering commercial buildings, such as shopping malls, hotels, and office complexes, to avoid downtime and significant economic losses.

Floodwater intrusion into industrial facilities can result in operational shutdowns. We use flexible and reusable inflatable flood barriers in factories, loading docks, warehouses and logistics hubs to ensure normal operation of industrial production.

Inflatable flood barriers are capable of isolating water, creating a dry work zone for cofferdam projects. Compared to concrete or sandbag cofferdams, our inflatable tubes can be deployed rapidly and require fewer personnel.

In the event of sudden heavy rainfall or flooding, inflatable flood barriers can prevent floodwaters from entering construction pits or excavation areas. Temporary flood control tubes are easy to deploy and dismantle, allowing for flexible adjustment as the project progresses.
